1. Lack of Cool Air
Have you been cranking the AC air up to cool off your home but realize that nothing happens?
Is there air coming out that isn’t quite what you would consider cool?
Then this is one of the most obvious signs that it is time for you to get an AC replacement as soon as you can. It is most likely not working properly if this is the case.
While the causes of the lack of air may differ, you will need to get AC services to figure out the issue. Either way, you will also need to fix the problem causing it as well.
2. Strange Sounds
If you start noticing strange sounds coming from your AC unit, you are going to most likely need some sort of HVAC tune-up. Grinding, squeaking, or chattering sounds coming from the AC unit is not normal. This also doesn’t mean that your AC is old – this means that there is something wrong with it.
3. Bad Smells
Have you been noticing some weird smells coming from the AC unit or the overall heating and cooling system? If so, then there could be an underlying issue within the entire HVAC system with the heating or cooling.
While all foul smells aren’t great to have to come from that system, if you smell smokey or burning smells, this is a sure sign that something is wrong and that you should immediately call for AC maintenance.
4. High Energy Bills
None of us like paying bills. However, it can be especially annoying to see that your energy bills keep climbing in price every single month.
While you may be annoyed by this, this could actually be a sign of something else going on.
Your cooling system may not be running as efficiently as possible, so it is a good idea to get it checked out.
5. Buildup of Moisture
Most AC units are going to build up some moisture. However, it shouldn’t be overdoing it.
If moisture is constantly present or there is a leak that is occurring near the AC, this could be a sign of a larger problem. It could also be a sign that mold is going to start growing if this continues.
Time for an AC Replacement
If you notice any of these five signs happening to your AC unit, it may be time for an AC replacement.
As tempting as it can be to wait it out to see, this can cause even more damage and cost you more money down the road. It is best to get it fixed right away.
